“Music”是生活的調(diào)劑品,沒有“music”的生活是有所缺失的。然而,“Face the music”卻不是大家想象中的“面對音樂”。這個(gè)說法跟音樂并沒有什么關(guān)系,表達(dá)的意思是:“承擔(dān)后果”,面對現(xiàn)實(shí)或者處理一些現(xiàn)實(shí)狀況,接受所有的結(jié)果,不管是好是壞。但大多數(shù)情況下都是不太好的結(jié)果。有時(shí)候,也用來表示接受懲罰,接受某個(gè)行為帶來的直接后果。
這個(gè)短語來源于劇場。演員們在舞臺上表演時(shí),就直接面對著樂池中的樂隊(duì),在舞臺上,演員經(jīng)常會(huì)由于緊張或怯場而造成忘詞等尷尬的局面,只要音樂一響,演員就沒有任何選擇的余地,只能去face the music(必須承受出現(xiàn)的局面)。人們遂用face the music指承擔(dān)自己行為的后果。
