Once upon a time, there was an island where all the feelings lived: Happiness, Sadness, Knowledge, and all of the others, including Love. One day it was announced to the feelings that the island would sink, so all constructed boats and left. Except for Love.

Love was the only one who stayed. Love wanted to hold out until the last possible moment.

When the island had almost sunk, Love decided to ask for help.

Richness was passing by Love in a grand boat. Love said,

"Richness, can you take me with you?"

Richness answered, "No, I can't. There is a lot of gold and silver in my boat. There is no place here for you."

Love decided to ask Vanity who was also passing by in a beautiful vessel. "Vanity, please help me!"

"I can't help you, Love. You are all wet and might damage my boat," Vanity answered.

Sadness was close by so Love asked, "Sadness, let me go with you."

"Oh . . . Love, I am so sad that I need to be by myself!"

Happiness passed by Love, too, but she was so happy that she did not even hear when Love called her.

Suddenly, there was a voice, "Come, Love, I will take you." It was an elder. So blessed and overjoyed, Love even forgot to ask the elder where they were going. When they arrived at dry land, the elder went her own way. Realizing how much was owed the elder, Love asked Knowledge, another elder, "Who Helped me?"

"It was Time," Knowledge answered.

"Time?" asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"

Knowledge smiled with deep wisdom and answered, "Because only Time is capable of understanding how valuable Love is."

眾人紛紛離去，只有愛(ài)情獨(dú)自留了下來(lái)。他打算自己撐到最后可能的那一刻。

當(dāng)小島真的快沉沒(méi)的時(shí)候，愛(ài)情才開(kāi)始準(zhǔn)備求救逃離。

當(dāng)財(cái)富駕著華麗的大船路過(guò)愛(ài)情的身旁，他準(zhǔn)備向財(cái)富乞求幫忙。

“財(cái)富，能載我離開(kāi)這里么？”

財(cái)富回道：“不可以，我的船里面載滿(mǎn)了金銀，這里可沒(méi)空地容你。”

愛(ài)情打算向駕著漂亮的船兒同時(shí)也路過(guò)這里的虛榮求救。“虛榮，請(qǐng)你幫幫我吧。”

虛榮回道：“我可幫不到你的忙，”“可你渾身濕碌碌的，說(shuō)不定會(huì)弄壞我的船呢。”

悲傷路過(guò)愛(ài)情的身邊，于是愛(ài)情乞求道：“悲傷，帶我一起離開(kāi)這里吧。”

“哦...，愛(ài)情，我太傷感了，我只想自己一個(gè)人呆著。”

快樂(lè)也路過(guò)愛(ài)情這里，但是她太興奮了以至于她根本沒(méi)有注意聽(tīng)到愛(ài)情的哀求聲。

就在這個(gè)時(shí)候，突然耳邊響起了聲音，“過(guò)來(lái)吧，愛(ài)情，我?guī)�你�?lái)離開(kāi)這里。”這聲音是為長(zhǎng)者的。由于愛(ài)情終于能離開(kāi)這里而太愉快而且太欣喜過(guò)望，以至于他連問(wèn)長(zhǎng)者他們一快將駛向哪里都沒(méi)有提及。當(dāng)他們一行到了干涸的土地上后，長(zhǎng)者徑直離開(kāi)了。愛(ài)情意識(shí)到自己虧欠了這位長(zhǎng)者太多后，他開(kāi)口向另一位被稱(chēng)為智慧的長(zhǎng)者問(wèn)道：“那為幫我的人是誰(shuí)呢？”

智慧回道：“是時(shí)間本人。”

愛(ài)情迷惑的問(wèn)到“是時(shí)間？它為什么要幫助我離開(kāi)那里呢？”

智慧微哂，禪定道來(lái)：“因?yàn)橹挥袝r(shí)間才能夠真正懂得愛(ài)情本身有多重要。”
